This is a nice hardback book full of quotes from the Confucian and Taoist masters. This book also contains many interesting photographs which add to the overall feel of the book. While this is not an exhaustive study of Confucian or Taoist philosophy, it does contain plenty of thought-inducing quotes to meditate on. The quotes in this book are divided into seven different categories which include:
Family
Education
Warfare
The Tao
Government
Sagehood
Death
It also includes a helpful index which will help the reader if he or she is looking for quotes from any specific master or text. I always find such an index very helpful, especially when trying to reference a quote for other purposes. There is also a section for further reading recommendations which is always nice to have. There is really nothing new here for the student of Confucian or Taoist texts, but this is a nice book for your library if you enjoy either of these philosophies or if you simply love wisdom or wisdom quotes. It is printed on high quality paper, which is appropriate since there are many black and white photographs included throughout this book. This would be a nice book to keep as a small coffee table book or merely to use for purposes of contemplating/reflecting on the wisdom contained. A nice addition to any philosophical library.
