Grandpa took us all on a jounery. Life lessons were taught through experience.
In the spirit of true auteurship, Mr. D'Agnese draws from his own life expierience,to pass along thought provoking tidbits in the hope of enriching the readers journey through life.
His use of a teenager to learn the lessons works well, because the boy is on the cusp of adulthood. He is an open book, eager to be written. He is in essence, D'Agnese's audience. As the teen matures, we all learn to appreciate our life's worth, and relationships.
D'Agnese talks of recreating one's self through a change in habits, and a positive attitude(- his reaffirmation).
At one point, the teacher becomes the student. Grandpa has to "come to grips" with his feelings(about his family)- and realizes that in order to change these feelings, he has to acknowledge them.
His advise to us all is " live your life like you're important".
While reading this book, I intended to write a review. In doing so, I kept notes; and therefore imersed myself into, and interacted with the lessons being taught.
A well written novel which one can use as a guide for self examination. Anthony, " good job, well done ".
