(More customer reviews)I believe this is an excellent book. My mother in law and I had a big fallout after my daughter was born. If I had read this book beforehand it may have alleviated some of the tension we have now. It talks about establishing boundaries of a new family, respecting or rejecting advice, overcoming conflict, forgiveness,and of course your husband and how she feels pushed out of this new unit or family. I like the biblical references, God's standard is high. We might not achieve that "Ruth and Naomi" relationship but it gives something to aim for...For me personally, it's going to take time to heal the rift we have but I'm trying and the book helps. My motherin law said some really mean things. I intend to be married to my husband until death do us parts and I want to have a half way decent relationship for my husband but also my child andof course ME. When you don't forgive the only person you're hurting is yourself. You can't let the bittnerness consume you.
