The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word (Meyer, Joyce) Review

Do you take aspirin, Tylenol or Advil when you have a headache?
Well, this book is medicine for the spirit!
It is broken down into categories for easy reference. IE: Hope, anger, encouragement, faith and so on.
So many times we get "attacked" during the day... I pull out my book find the appropriate scriptures, say them out load (that's the key) and immediately feel the peace of God.

Always True: God's 5 Promises for When Life is Hard Review

Always True: God's 5 Promises for When Life is Hard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In his new book, "Always True; God's 5 Promises When Life is hard", James McDonald brings to readers yet another valuable addition to their library. From touching family anecdotes to Bible proven reasons to trust in the Lord, James McDonald offers some tips to help people remember God keeps His promises. We can truly trust in the Word of God and James reminds us of that over and over in his book, but he offers a reminder of just who God is and what His promises mean. Through teaching the theology of promises we see what His true intentions are. God holds us up; we do not hold Him up. God created us and we have listened to so many other people for so long that we forget that His love for us has no boundaries. Through learning scripture and learning to apply it to every daily situation we can be constantly reminded that He has given us everything that we need. We need to remember that God has created us and he does not make junk. I encourage anyone who needs a little reminding of the promises made to people like you and me that God is always there to read this book. My reviews are based on a scale of 1 to 10. This book gets a 9.

His Princess Warrior: Love Letters for Strength from Your Lord Review

His Princess Warrior: Love Letters for Strength from Your Lord

I think this is an excellent book. I look forward to reading a couple of pages of this book each morning. "His Princess Warrior" is written in a two part format. The first page talks about one's position as a daughter of the King - hence the "Princess" part of the title. This is followed by a picture and a scripture verse connected to the message. The next page is a prayer that challenges or encourages one to go and do a specific task that God has designed for each of his children - hence the "Warrior" part. Again, this page is followed by a picture and relevant verse. I love the balance between knowing who we are and then going wherever God is sending us.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is serious about following Christ. Without the regular reminder of who our Father is and who we are, the task can become overwhelming. But, coupled with the knowledge of God's love for us we can attack the strongholds of the enemy that we encounter every day.

50 People Every Christian Should Know: Learning from Spiritual Giants of the Faith Review

50 People Every Christian Should Know: Learning from Spiritual Giants of the Faith

This book offers fifty short biographical sketches of Christian figures of varying importance, ranging from Katherine von Bora to A.W. Tozer and had its genesis in magazine articles in Moody Monthly and The Good News Broadcaster. It combines two previous books, Living with the Giants and Victorious Christians. As a collection of short biographies it does with excellence exactly what is sets out to do--provide a mere introduction to important Christian figures. There is am emphasis on figures in some way related to Moody, but this hardly detracts from it. It's an excellent choice to read just a few pages at a time.

Teacher of the Year :400 Quotes of Insight, Inspiration, and Motivation from America's Greatest Teachers Review

Teacher of the Year :400 Quotes of Insight, Inspiration, and Motivation from America's Greatest Teachers

I am an elementary school administrator who purchased this book as a gift to my school's Teacher of the Year. It is a great resource of educational quotes by Teachers of the Year from all over the United States (mostly national and state winners, but a few system winners as well). The quotes are organized by topic. Imagine my surprise to find numerous quotes from my state's former Teachers of the Year, whom I've personally met. I'm sure you'll find names that are familiar to your area. The quotes constitute a good mixture of the positive and the negative aspects of education. You'll find humorous anecdotes, inspirational passages, and heart-rendering recollections... What I love about this book is. . . .it is not filled with words of education experts or critics, these are the words of teachers - the best of our profession! And overwhelmingly, these teachers LOVE what they do. A great read, a great gift!
